The viewfinder of my Leica M3 has blacked out. Can it be repaired?
We offer M3 viewfinder repairs. However, depending on its condition, we may not be able to repair it. After examining the item in person, we will determine if a repair is possible.
The gutta-percha/vulcanite (leather covering of the body) is peeling off. Can the Gutta-percha be replaced?
The original gutta-percha is no longer available, but we can replace it with artificial leather with a similar embossed pattern. We also have genuine leather. If you would like to replace the leather covering, please contact us. Click here to see sample photos of leather replacements.
If I request a repair for a Leica M3, will the L-seal disappear after the repair?
The L-seal needs to be removed during the repair process, so we will reapply our L-seal after the repair is complete.
Can I have my name engraved on the top cover of my camera?
It is possible to engrave personal names on brass top covers. However, we do not provide engravings on top covers that are made of zinc die-castings containing air bubbles, such as the M6TTL.
Please note that we cannot provide engravings that may infringe on trademarks, such as the Leica logo.
The Leica M6 viewfinder shows both the 35mm and 135mm frame lines together. Is it possible to remove the 135mm frame, so that only the 35mm frame is visible?
Yes, it's possible. We can mask the 135mm frame line to show only the 35mm frame line.
Is it possible to replace the red shutter curtains on a Leica IIIC?
The red shutter curtains are not available. If they need to be replaced, they will be replaced with black shutter curtains.
Is it possible to re-evaporate the prism on the Leicaflex SL (SL2)?
We do re-evaporation for pentaprisms. However, if the silver evaporation is starting failing, it may have eroded the glass, in which case re-evaporation may not produce a very clean finish. So, depending on the condition of the prism, we may not be able to recommend re-evaporation. We will inspect the condition before deciding whether or not to accept your request.
Do you offer repair services for Leica R-series cameras?
We offer repair services for R6 and R6.2, but not for R3, R4, or R9.
For R5, RE, R7, and R8, we may be able to offer partial repairs, although we cannot provide a warranty after the repair.
Do you offer repair services for Leica CL (Leitzminolta CL) for repair?
We offer repair services for Leica CL and Leitzminolta CL. However, there are several cases that are unrepairable, for instance, if the rangefinder prism has deteriorated and the double image has become faint, or if the take-up spool or sprocket is broken or cracked. We cannot repair these because we do not have spare parts.
In addition, we regret that we do not offer services for Minolta CLE.
Do you offer repair services for Leica MC meters and MR meters?
We offer overhauls for MC meters including selenium photocell replacement, and for MR meters including Cds replacement. Depending on the condition of the meter, repair may not be possible. We will determine the feasibility of repair after examining the meter.
Do you repair Leica binoculars?
We regret that we do not offer services for binoculars.
Do you repair Leica digital cameras?
Unfortunately, we do not offer services for digital cameras.
For some models, we only offer leather replacements. However, please note that replacing the leather on current products may void the manufacturer's warranty or service eligibility. Please check this before placing your repair order.

Is it possible to repair the light meter on a Nikon F or F2 Photomic?
We offer overhauls, including Cds replacement, for the Nikon F Photomic FTn and the Nikon F2 Photomic (DP-1) and Photomic A (DP-11).
There are several types of the F2 Photomic, but we do not repair the LED type unfortunately.
Is it possible to re-evaporate the prism on the Nikon F/F2 prism finder?
We do re-evaporation for pentaprisms. However, if the silver evaporation is starting failing, it may have eroded the glass, in which case re-evaporation may not produce a very clean finish. So, depending on the condition of the prism, we may not be able to recommend re-evaporation. We will inspect the condition before deciding whether or not to accept your request.

Do you provide repair services for Russian-made cameras, such as Kiev cameras?
Due to the poor quality of structure and component precision of Russian-made cameras, even after adjustment, it is difficult to achieve the precision required by our repair standards. Even if we were to accept the repair, it would require a significantly longer work time than usual, resulting in high repair costs, and we still cannot guarantee the condition of the camera afterward. For these reasons, we regret that we cannot accept repairs for Russian-made cameras.
Is it possible to modify the current products?
It depends on the type of modification you want. Even if the modification appears to have no effect on functionality, we must take responsibility for the part once we have performed. We believe that modifications are not easy to perform, regardless of whether the product is current or not. Therefore, whether or not it can be performed depends on the product, its condition, and the type of modification. Also, for the above reasons, any modification will be expensive and the repair time will be longer than a regular repair. Furthermore, modifying a current product may result in ineligibility for manufacturer service, and there are manufacturer warranties involved, so we basically do not recommend it.
One of the screws came off and missing. I'd like to fix it myself, so could you sell me just a single screw?
We regret that we do not sell parts, including screws.
We normally recommend you to request to install the screw at the same time of other malfunction. Or you can request the repair for only installing the screw. Please note that depending on the location of the missing screw, we may not be able to accept the request for installing the screw only. Also, if we do not have the exact same screw in stock, we will install a similar one from our inventory.
I have an extra camera that can be used for spare parts. If you don't have spare parts in stock, could you use the parts from it for repairs?
We generally do not accept such requests. Even if you provide a camera for parts, it is highly likely that it has deteriorated similarly over time. Furthermore, we consider classic cameras to be cultural assets in themselves, so creating a "two-in-one" camera would mean reducing the number of cultural assets, which goes against our business philosophy. Even if we were to do so as a special case, it would cost twice the labor fee, so we basically do not recommend it.
